MCDA organization engages the community to participate in enhancing good healthcare, better livelihood, poverty eradication, and reduction in child mortality, improved education, emergency response, water & sanitation and other needs of the people. The organization holds consultative meetings to mobilize the communities and enhance their awareness in the attainment of disease for all strategic objectives. To promote protection, increase awareness and knowledge through coordinated and comprehensive awareness raising interventions and creation of an enabled environment for young people.
- Coordination and Networking
MCDA organization conducts regular consultative meetings among various institutions and other development officers on community level in Somalia in order for them to coordinate their efforts and networking. The network produces newsletters for the members to share information, knowledge, experiences and skills.
- Capacity Building
MCDA organization is very much concerned with capacity building of the network members so as to equip them with necessary capacity needed in managing or dealing with the day-to-day challenges.
- Research
MCDA organization conduct limited research activities in themes of much interest to the communities in Somalia State of Somalia.
- Training and education
MCDA organization’s training programs focus on both the individual and network members to ensure smooth running of the network activities and member organizations.Conduct Training of Trainers (TOTs) in favor of community mobilizers, law enforcement agents, and religious and community leaders to encourage discussions at local level and provide necessary information for behavior change.
- Other Activities
This organization mobilizes resources in the form of financial donations, materials, and volunteer labor in order to sustain their projects and programs. Fundraising is still necessary in the organization, but on a smaller scale and serves the symbolic function of strengthening the donors’ identification with the cause. Persuading people to donate their time is more important; successful campaigning.
The organization has dedicated its services for both operational and campaigning needs to engage in fundraising, mobilization of work by supporters, organizing special events, cultivating the media and
administering a headquarters. Only the defining activities – implementing projects or holding demonstrations make a difference in the organization from others.
In case projects have not been significantly carried out the organization often moves into campaigning when the impact of the projects seems to be insufficient.
Similarly, the organization often feels it cannot ignore the immediate practical problems in their policy domain.
